what if unicycles had a clutch you could turn on for going downhill? then you could go real fast easily like gliding, but you could keep your feet on the pedals, and still have control
S.W.A.T or H.O.W or W.H.A.T.E.V.A made one. Lookad really hard to ride though.
We (SWAT) have a coasting unicycle. It doesnt have a clutch. It just has a coasting hub. Its really just the front wheel from a big wheel that we stuck a seat post in.
Re: clutch
I had the same idea recently! I thought that it would make gliding become a much easier skill to achieve.
Fexnix - who has built one, and are there any pictures or other information available??
Tim, what is SWAT?
Single Wheeled Attack Team. There’s six of us. Here’s a link to our gallery gallery.unicyclist.com/SWAT

LOL. I love it…
That link is broken. have you any pictures of the coasting unicycle?
I assume your Attack Team is in Pennsylvania, yes?
Re: SWAT
Link works now. We actually have a video too. http://gallery.unicyclist.com/albums/album390/coastervideo.wmv thats the direct link to the video. Its mostly Nick riding it I think right now hes the best at it. I’m not to bad though.
Schweet… So, you can’t back-pedal at all? Like a regular b*ke. Nice video. Thanks!
its like a BC with a seat like an impossible uni

Roger Davies (Roger@Unicycledotcom) has one, I think he rescued it from a skip somewhere :p. Its incredibly tricky (and dangerous) to ride. It tends to shoot out forward, depositing you on your back very, very hard. It also puts incredible stress on your wrists because it throws you off very quickly, too fast to get your feet on the floor, and you fall back on your hands.
Fun, but the potential for injury is huge…
Loose.
