Well, the school year is finally over. The final projects have been turned in, credits have been counted, the parents have cried, the ceremony is over. We are the graduates of 2007! Lets see those diplomas!
Some of you may not be out of school yet, but I know its coming for the rest of you in the next few weeks. How exciting.
I graduated last week and a half ago, and the ceremony was held today, which was great. Im taking a small break for now, and gonna be getting a steady job and fixing my car. College will be coming up next. =p
I finished high school about a month ago, but graduation ceremony is due in two weeks. So, I havenāt properly graduated yet. But we had the end of school party already and writing on the shirts in felt pens business. Was pretty cool. I might post some pics later on.
good thing JC is a world-wide forum: could you explain what exactly does this mean? I am not at all familiar with the curricullum in the U.S.
does that mean that next step is university?
what kind of exam have you been through? are those exams standard across the country or is it just a school thing?
tell us: weāre interested.
In the U.S, the school system is set up like this, normally:
Pre-K and Kindergarten: whenever the parent starts the kid up to about age 5 (normally)
1st-5th grade: this is whatās normally known as Elementary school. There are some districts that do it differently, but the first chunk of schooling is known as elementary school.
6th-8th: this is normally called Middle School (or, if youāre an old person, Junior High). Sometimes 6th grade is with elementary school, sometimes 9th is with middle school.
9th-12th: This is High Schoolā¦I donāt know if yāallās highschool grades over there have the same names as we do, but ours go: Freshman (9th), Sophomore (10th), Junior (11th), and Senior (12th).
After you finish 12th grade, youāve āgraduatedā from school. If someone is talking about graduation, high school is usually implied. This is what Jerrick is talking about. After high school, you move on to college (if you choose to, of course). A college is something that only offers up to Bachelorās Degrees (all undergraduates, basically), and a University has some Masters Degrees available (graduates), and depending on the University some Doctorates as well. Then you graduate and start working at a job you hate for a pay you arenāt satisfied with for a person you donāt like.
