First Annual American Circus Festival,

Santa Cruz, CA

April 25-27, 2003
Friday April 25th and Saturday April 26th at 8pm, members of the Dusk Beat
Circus, the Circus Center of San Francisco, Trapeze Arts, Lunatique
Fantastique and the New Pickle Circus, as ell as local legend Frank Olivier
and guest artists from Washington State and Paris, France, will come
together to perform a world-class circus variety show. The show will
include spectacular performances of traditional circus arts, such as
juggling, trapeze and unicycling, as well as a slew of art forms less
commonly associated with circus, including found-object puppetry, break
dancing and projection-based, multi-media physical theatre.

Throughout the weekend, free workshops will be led by circus artists and
entertainment industry professionals. The schedule includes workshops to
cover both the artistic and business sides of the circus world, as well as
beginning workshops for the general public. Included in the line-up are
“Beginning Trapeze,” “Juggling 101,” “Physical Comedy and Mime,” “Grant
Writing for the Arts” and “Street Performing around the Globe.”

This is a must-see performance-a rare opportunity to share in the magic that
is circus at its best. Tickets for the shows are $10 for general admission
and $5 for students, and can be reserved by calling (831) 459-2857 or
purchased at the door. Directions to Porter College Theatre at UC Santa
Cruz and information about the workshops and performances can be found at

New Jersey has dibs after that!

Raphael Lasar
Matawan, NJ

Clearly you guys are very confused. I know I read in there somewhere that it’s coming to Pennsylvania next.

Nikki

Yeah guys everyone knows PA is next… Duh…

Chex

Hey…as long as they’re already in California they should hit up So. Cal. before they go anywhere else.

That would only be fair…
