Announcing the opening of New Zealand’s first full-time circus training course:
‘The Christchurch Polytechnic Certificate in CircoArts.’
CircoArts will be opening it’s doors in March 1996.
CircoArts provides an intensive one year course in circus arts, street
performance, theatre skills and improvisation. Students will train in a range of
juggling, clowning, dance/mime, acrobatics and aerials skills. The balance of
student’s studies will be made up of theory papers on entertainment, small
business, street performing, circus, cabaret, physiology and circus history.
Second and third years of specialist circus-arts training are under development.
Fees for New Zealand and Australian students are identical. Australian and New
Zealand students will be eligible for student allowances and student loans.
(Student loans will cover course fees and living costs.)
