Christmas Eve Hiking Pictures

On saturday I woke up late…around 12:45 and decided to go on an adventure. I got dressed grabbed some food, water, boots, and flashlights, and headed out to Old Rag Mountain (sounds funny I know). It was a little over an hour drive and I started hiking at around 3:15. I reached the top of the trail and then had to climb a bunch of icey boulders to get to the peak. I reached the top at about 5…just in time for the sunset. The way down was rather scary because I had to descend icey boulders in the dark, but all in all I only fell once and it was a fun adventure!

here are the pics:

Nice.

I had to look at oldrag3 for a minute to get it right. At first I thought it was sideways. Amazing how rocks can part like that then another rock falls in the crack.

There is special serenity in a hike like this … alone and late in the day … late enough to watch the sunset. It really gives you an appreciation for the visual beauty and the sounds of nature. The sound of wind in the trees… the crunch of the snow … the power of isolation in the wilderness.

                                                                                 Nice

I dont think he was alone. Someone had to have taken the picture of him (assuming it was him, if not the picture of the guy).

But nice pictures! I too liked the one of the rock parting

Yeah that is me, and I did go alone. I set the camera up so it took a picture after a 10 second delay, that is why it is kind of askew.

I uploaded another view of the splitting rocks (that look like stairs):

ahhh technology! So a head of me… :stuck_out_tongue: I didnt even think of a timmer.

that looks like one awesome place to be. sounds like a great hike man.
