i wont to know how, i mean, from what i heard the guy wasnt far away from him, and if you know your shotting buckshot, that stuff spreads out, i just dont see how you can have somone in range and still just shoot, i wait until everyone it to my side or behind when i go shooting, never in front lol
An apparent bit of media-manipulation. A mention of beer disappears from one of the earlier stories of the event.

Some radio stations have been playing “Cheney’s Got A Gun.” 
The guy was behind, Supposedly the story is that the guy had gone back to pcik up a quali or somethign and in targeting a bird Cheney turned aroudn and fired. Supposedly it was at about 50m range.
It wasn’t buckshot, it was birdshot, most likely #8 for quail.
I heard that they were poaching too. Im not sure if that is true or not, but that combined with the beer makes it much more interesting.
The rumor mill and gossip tree are very active this morning.
Poaching is seeking or taking game out of season or outside of legal hunting hours.
Mr. Cheney was hunting within the parameters of the season but was not hunting legally as he didn’t have the proper license, i.e., a quail stamp. Often, states will issue a hunting license then grant permits or permit stamps for different types of game. He should at least receive a citation for not having the proper permit.
Before this thread goes any futher (and I suspect some mudslinging is regrettably going to be unavoidable), I have to say that this will go down as one of my favourite posts. It’s really, really funny.

I just find the whole situation funny. First off Cheney shot someone, who didn’t see it coming? Who didn’t realize they would try to cover it up? Also I have no sympathy for hunters who get shot. They are out trying to kill innocent animals, and they wind up getting shot. I just find that ironic.
I did when I were a nipper…Though I must admit I had to refer to the framed, illustrated (Brynn original) copy of it my Grandpa gave me one xmas/birthday.
It’s been a long while since I fired a gun or rifle. I went off decimating the Wiltshire Fauna a good while ago.

What an absolutely brilliant response! I had never thought of animals as the keepers of meat, but as you put it, it is now clear to me. No more will I judge an animal as “innocent”.
