chaffing

how can you reduce chaffing from a lx seat

spray some lubricant on the side of the seat before every ride or buy some of those bike pants

wear lycra pants underneath your normal pants, that way the pants rub against the lycra and not you

you could always buy a better seat.

How long have you been riding? If it is a short time, then the chaffing will just go away after a while, cause you’ll get used to it, and its just kinda like an initiation to unicycling.

If you have been riding for a while, then you should look into getting a KH fusion, they are a lot better for comfortablity, or getting the Nimbus Gel Saddle from UDC is a great seat, or even convert into a Air seat. \

Another thing, is to wear gym shorts under your pants, those really soft ones, they kinda feel like silk and only cost like 10 dollars, those are great cheap alternative to buying those bike pants and whatnot.

Bike shorts are definately an "ass"et. Keep them clean, and you will enjoy a fresher, more comfy ride.

Also you can put some baby powder or something in your shorts.

I would highly suggest getting a new seat, like the nimbus gel saddle. the only thing is that if you bought a new seat, you would need a new seatpost too.

nahh, you don’t need a new seat. Just take a short break every once in a while, and… maybe don’t put so much weight on the seat.

agreed, i wear them spandex bike shorts under my shorts when i go for muni and use some talc to keep 'em fresh (if only for a short time). when you go on woodhill epics like tony likes to take me on its a neccesity.

Ride an Ultimate wheel, and wear shin guards.

Not good advice. Weight on seat is good.

If you don’t want to spend big bucks for padded cycling shorts, try what is called “compression shorts”, available at sporting goods stores and other major department stores. Usually find them next to the athletic supporters. They are similar to cycling shorts but don’t have the padding and don’t cost so much.

I wear them to prevent chaffing. As iridemymuni says, your outer shorts rub against the lycra shorts and not your legs. Nylon outer shorts are better than cotton outer shorts.

Wet shorts (from sweating) really make chaffing worse.

if ya in the UK (fill in ya profile :p) you can always get cheap cycling shorts with padding, but lycra shorts will do. I found i never need cream, only issue i get with long rides is saddle sore
