what does it mean if both my lights work in daytime running light mode, but when i turn on the lights, one goes out?
can the automotively challenged do anything with this?
the bulbs were replaced a little over a month ago

What is “light mode”?
I had a strange electrical problem in my car. The tail lights were working intermittently. Turned out the switch on the steering column that turns the running lights on and off was cruddy and causing contact problems. Operating the switch numerous times and blowing out the crud and generally cleaning it out managed to fix the problem. Unfortunately that was discovered after having replaced the wiring harness for the tail lights.
presumably by “both my lights” you mean just the headlights? does the main beam, dipped beam or side light filament come on in daytime mode? when you turn on the lights are you turning them to full or dipped beam?
DRL (Daytime Running Lights) are the “high beams” running at half current. So… either your headlight’s high intensity filament is burnt out or you’ve a problem with a relay or fuse.
Test #1: Check your fuses (refer to your owner’s manual for directions). Usually there’s separate fuses for left and right lights. You may need to replace one.
Test #2: Are both headlights illuminated when you switch on your “high beams”? If not, you need to replace your headlight. Again. If so, you may have a relay or wiring problem. Time to take the car to the dealer!
thanks everyone, i’ll probably be back tomorrow saying how do you fix two headlights and get glass out of your hand?
