I’ve had it with my crappy att wireless web! it now just totally shuts down without warning at least every 5 minutes, then takes almost that long to boot back up! This makes uploading or downloading anything more than a few megs impossible!
It’s driving me crazy and the idiots at att just keep giving me the run around and won’t do anything to fix it! Anyway, I have another video i’m trying to upload to youtube, but because my internet connection keeps getting cut off, I have to keep starting all over again with the upload, so…
Does anyone know of a program that will at least save what you have uploaded so it can “resume” the upload if you lose internet connection? Is there anything like that I can download that might help me in this situation? Thanks if you do please let me know asap!
This happens a lot with my Internet at my dads house. Accept not as long it just shuts off and turns back on every now and then. It is annoying seeing page cannot be found offline every couple minutes or so arg. I would like help with this to.
Yeah, ATT is of has been of no help at all. I’ve spoken on the phone countless times with “techs” and they’ve walked me through a myriad of troubleshooting stuff, but nothing has helped. They even replace the DSL modem and even that didn’t solve the problem! I’m told it’s probably shoddy, inferior “Firmware” in the modem, so I’m shopping around for another service provider.
Really? When did fios become available dallas, because when I had lived there I don’t think we were able to get it. Of course, I moved last year, and a lot can happen in a year
Terry, you may just need to get a different router. I have ATT dsl at my house, but with a dsl modem that’s not a wireless router. I have a Netgear MIMO wireless router attached to it, and it rocks. I had a crappy Belkin wireless router with probably the same kind of wireless that’s built into your modem, and it dropped signals all the time, too. This Netgear is awesome–and has incredible range, too. If I didn’t have it secured, I’d be giving internet to people six or more houses away. It’s amazing.
So my setup is like this: the phone wire goes into the DSL modem, and I run a CAT5 cable (ethernet) to my Netgear router. Then I run CAT5 again to a desktop computer that’s close to the router, and use wireless for the other four computers in the house. It might be worth it to try out a different wireless router before tossing ATT out. Although I think they’re pretty clueless about many things (billing, for instance–don’t get me started!), the service of the DSL signal into my house has had no problems in several years of use.
