Hey, is it possible to do one-footed tricks on a 24" Schwinn
with the sloped crown? I’m starting to try it and I’m
wondering if I’m wasting my time and would be better
off with a frame that had a flatter crown.
You would be better off with a flat crown, but it’s not impossible. I’ve been succesful with many 1-footed tricks on my United frame (sloped crown)
You can do it, it’s just a little harder to learn. I have a 20" cyclepro with a sloped crown, the first couple of times I tried to one foot idle, my feet would keep slipping off, but once you get the hang of it, the crown becomes less of an issue.
Some people suggested putting something around the crown to rest your foot on, but I was too lazy to rig something up.
Re: Can u do one-footed on a Schwinn?
It’s definately possible, I learned one foot on a Schwinn.
*Tip: Put your toe on the crown above the wheel and pull your heel up and forward until it catches on the seat post bolt. This will give you more leverage and help you keep your foot on the frame.
Keep On Trying!

Actually, when I was a kid, you didn’t have the choice – there were very
few uni brands, and the only one carried locally was Schwinn. I’d seen ppl
riding 1’ed, so I figured I’d just ride fast enough to get some momentum
and then take off the weak foot. Eventually I learned this way, as did my
bro. 20 years later I got my first 20" freestyle with a crown. I’d never
tried riding 1’ed with the weak foot ON the crown – I’d always just
allowed it to fly in front of me. Well, the ‘new’ way is MUCH easier –
you have much greater control with the weak foot on the post. But it
certainly is not hard to ride with the weak foot in the air. Same with
idling.

I rode a Schwinn 24" one footed for many years. I used grip tape and put a little “rolled up” piece of the tape under the center of a longer strip then taped the long strip to the crown vertically. This formed a bump to rest my toe on. My toe is still not tired.
You bet it’s possible! it just might be harder. . . well i learned on a schwinn 24" one footed anyway.
Not than I can one foot anything (except hopscotch) you can put a hose clamp around the leg, to give yourself a little nub to rest on.
