Can fusion cover fit onto standard KH seat?

I have a Nimbus 29er with a KH standard seat. I’d like to try modifying the seat foam a little. If I remove the staples and take the cover off, will the KH fusion cover fit in its place? Are special clips needed? The KH Fusion cover costs only $19, but the KH seat with fusion cover costs $79 and I don’t want to buy a whole seat if I’m just going to hack away at the foam.

Any advice from others that have done this will be welcome.
