Hey all!
I was trying to plan out some of my summer and i was wondering if any dates were set for the California Mountain Unicycling Weekend? I know they were throwing around dates in September or October, but i haven’t heard of any decisions. Any info is welcome! Thanks!

Nathan Hoover and Bruce Bundy are putting the Weekend together. Last I heard
Nathan was considering two different weekends, which I can’t find at the
moment. I believe the first one was Sept. 20-22, and the other was Oct. 4-6.
But I don’t think a decision has been made yet.
Nathan is currently out of the country (riding down the Himalayas with Kris
Holm in Bhutan). As soon as he gets back I think there will be announcements
including the final dates and a rough schedule. There will be rides in
Wilder Ranch, DelaVeaga Park, and Trials at that city park near the marina.
It should be similar to the great MUni Weekend they did in 1999.
As soon as any information becomes available it will be posted here. Also I
will be putting together an information page about it on my Web site (but
nothing’s there yet).

I thought I saw a thread back a bit, that said that the earlier weekend in September was picked. I can’t remember the date, but I am pretty sure it was the September date.

CA MUni Weekend
Sounds great to me! This will be my first time out there (and my first time for a unicycle get together besides the uni club at college!) Thanks for the info and I will be waiting for the announcements!

PS I just got my KH 24" in yesterday!!! It is so beautiful!!! It is definately the Mack Truck of unicycles!

Sweet! It’s a great uni.
One of the first upgrades you’ll probably need is a better seatpost clamp. The skinny little clamp that came on mine couldn’t keep the seatpost from twisting. I put on a Salsa clamp (32mm size) and it’s much better now. Either the Lip Lock or the Flip Lock Salsa clamps will work. If you go with the Lip Lock be sure to put a little grease on the clamp bolt threads so you can tighten the bolt more securely.
The CA Muni Weekends are great fun. See ya there.
If you can manage a trip up to Washington there are also going to be some fun muni rides during NAUCC/UNICON.

Where exactly in California are we talking here? How long isthe event
usually? I’d really like to go to one of these weekends sometime, but they
are usually out of my reach. Arg! One of these days I’ll get there.

This year it is in Santa Cruz California. My calendar says it is Friday September 21 through Sunday September 22. I think those are the dates that Nathan had mentioned. We’ll get comfirmation when Nathan gets back.
The Friday ride is usually a longer more difficult ride for the hard core riders. The Saturday and Sunday rides usually have a mix of easy and hard rides so everyone can have fun.
They have good beer in Santa Cruz too.

I suppose that start date is Friday 20 September? (Or possibly
Saturday 21.)

Oh I wish!
I was completely sober at the time of that embarrassing Gregorian blunder.
I do need to make another clarification. The beer in Santa Cruz is better than good, it is great. The Seabright Brewery <http://www.seabrightbrewery.com/> has an awesome oatmeal stout. Their other beers are also great.
I will admit to having a pint of Obsidian Stout in front of me right now <http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/> so I can’t be certain that this post is free of obvious errors.
