Bye, bye, Miss American Pie

It’s the 50th anniversary of the day the music died.

Poor Don McLean. I don’t think he ever squeezed out another hit, but I’m sure glad he came up with that one.

I just came in to start a thread and you beat me to it.

Buddy Holly, died 3rd Feb 1959. A singer, guitarist, song writer and rock and roll icon who directly inspired artists and bands as diverse as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Lemmy, and Elvis Costello, and therefore indirectly almost every rock and roll band after them.

Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper died in the same plane crash. Two fine performers, although not in Holly’s league.
