ok, first paychec is coming in very soon, and i should get roughly 200 out of
it after some even more pressing expences. (i hope…pray…). I’m trying to
get a weelset i wont imedietly break, and whatever cheap frame ican get that
will hold the weelset. the goal is to have something to ride, thats pretty
decent, and pretty friendly to upgrading, assuming that in the next 2 years
or so, i will put about 1400 into it, and have something rock solid, but not
have to ever come up with 1400 all at once. heres the plan so far…
$20, Arrow 3.0 tire
$40, alex DX32 rim
$25 36 hole Suzue hub
$20 lun chi cranks
$6ish for spokes
notice theres no mention of a frame involved there? thats because i cant
seem to find a frame sold in the US that will hold a 3.0 that is less then
three hundread dollars. The nimbus II 24 would be my first (only?) pick on
frames at the moment, but are they available right now? can they be shiped
from the uk? This is kindof a now now thing, i dont really want to wate a
couple months untill they are available in the us and the web page is
updated, but i would be willing to wait for it to be shiped if i had to, but
extra shiping fees? how much? what would be better is if some kind
unicycling soul had an old structuraly sound unicycle frame wide enough to
hold a 3.0 they’d be willing to sell within my price range, or with some sort
of payment plan (50 now, 100 later kinda thing?).
btw, i have random pedals of different sizes lying around the house, i can
use one of them for now, and for the seat i’m using my old vintage schwin
modified with the homemade handle.
also, are there weelbuiding charges at unicycle.com? i dont have a jig. I
thought about trying to build it up on the frame, but the truth is i would
want to ride it to much to bother learning weelbuilding on the spot and i
would take it to a bike shop, so i might as well have it built when it gets
here.
thanks for you help. I welcome any questions, coments, but mainly im looking
for suggestions of what i could do better, or equal but cheaper…and i’m
looking for a frame.
