burning movies

i have a question about burning movies.
the current program i have is cheetah DVD burner.(even though i don’t have a DVD drive) i just want to burn movies on to a CD-R disk but the file is to big. is there any program that can burn the remaining stuff that didn’t burn on the first disk to burn to a second disk?

Thanks.

Will

You should be ashamed… Think of all the work that went into making that movie, the least you could do is show some support and buy if you really liked it that much…

Theft is theft.

I really doubt he cares, the Cheetah DVD Burner is Also a free program. And will, no you cannot do it, because there would be broken bits of movie. Go buy a DVD burner like me, so you can Rip and burn DVD’s the cool way!

ya i was thinking about that.
but i dont have any money.

Remember, making a backup copy of a movie you own is perfectly legal. But uni will doens’t have any money, so I don’t expect him to claim that…

There are reasons to copy DVDs that don’t involve piracy. For example: Whenever I buy a DVD I immediately convert it into a divx file on my PC. This makes it very convenient to watch movies because all I need to do is open a folder and click on a file instead of rooting through my DVD collection every time I want to watch a movie. I know it’s a very lazy thing for me to do, but I can’t fight who I am :frowning:

As for fitting movies onto CDs: don’t do it. Most of the time, the CD will go bad within the year, leaving you with a tainted conscience (maybe) and nothing to show for it.

<digression>For some reason this topic reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer sold his soul for a donut. In the end, all he had was half a stale donut, and Flanders was after his soul.

<digression2>While trying to choose between the correct spelling of ‘doughnut’ and the more common spelling of ‘donut’, I briefly considered ‘dohnut’ (i.e. ‘doh’ nut). Unfortunately, my mind wants to pronounce the ‘dohn’ in dohnut so that it sounds like ‘john’, and I had to scrap my dohnut plan’

Alas, my CD with the first ever, feature length episode of Thundercats has gone to the CD rack in the sky; part of the foil on the edge has corroded away enough so it can no longer read into the final half hour… :frowning:

D-Skins, are supposed to stop all scratches and chipping, and apperently you can leave them on while in the CD player. I havend bought any, mainly because I don’t use cd’s that often. But it looks like they are worth checking out.

hmm… i wish i knew about these/these existed about… 6-7 years ago

i had a magic: the gathering computer game (it wasn’t one of those crappy “learn to play” ones)that i would assume was pirated or something (unmarked disk from my uncle) that i have as yet been unable to find it anywhere… ever

That was probably Magic: The Gathering Online. You candownload it or get a disc here. You can get them at card shops when you buy a “Phat Pack”. A lot of shops dont carry the Phat Pack(2 starter decks, some boosters, the book, extended rules CD and some dice) but they aren’t that hard to find.

it was a single player (as far as i am aware) adventure game im pretty sure, and it was several years ago too… my uncle was playing irl with friends and his newest deck at the time was i think tempest

One thing you can do is burn the DVD to your hard drive as a DVD image. Then use a tool like DAEMON Tools to play the image file. DAEMON Tools is a virtual CD/DVD drive. It loads an image file of a CD or DVD and plays it as if it were a physical disk. Kind of cool. But you’ll use up a lot of hard drive space saving DVD images.

There are ways to fit a DVD on a CD or a couple of CDs. Look at guides for creating VDDs (Video CDs) and SVCDs (Super Video CDs). Just Google on “VCD guide” or “SVCD guide” to find out all about it. It will require special software to author the VCD or SVCD. I don’t know if the Cheetah tools will do it. Tools like Nero will do it, but those tools aren’t free (unless they come bundled with a DVD burner, but even then they aren’t free).

There’s also DVD Shrink which may be of some help to your quest. Many of the sites that have help guides on making VCDs will also have guides on using DVD Shrink. Google will also find you help.

grrrrrrrrr!!!
i have been looking for a vcd guide all night.
i found one but two of the programs you need are only for windows 98.
do you know of any good ones?

There are good guides and info at:
videohelp.com
AfterDawn.com
Doom9
RipHelp.com

The first three also have forums where you can get answers to questions.

Creating a VCD and/or cutting a DVD into multiple parts is tricky stuff and it will take some digging and reading to figure out how to do it. It’s easier if you have tools like Nero which can do basic DVD and VCD authoring. Finding free tools to do DVD authoring is more challenging. There is also the problem of needing an MPEG-2 decoder and encoder. Normally the MPEG-2 encoders and decoders cost money. I’m not aware of a free MPEG-2 encoder/decoder, but I’ve not really looked for a free one.

You’ve found a copy now. Check your PMs for my email address and let me know where to ship it.

You can break a DVD file into separate files so you can burn them onto separate files.

I can’t remember off the top of my head. Try google.
