bruises by kinport rear bumper

I have replaced my rear green Miyata bumper with a black Kinport bumper. It sticks out to the side just a wee bit over the Miyata and is now bruising up my inner thigh from mounting.

Has anyone come across this problem and figured out a way to pad the bumper or shave part of it down?

Lowering the seat has helped, but I can’t lower it any farther.

I have found the bumper to be a snug fit. I read in a post a while ago that there are several versions of the Miyata base and the bumper holes differ slightly from one to the next. I think the Kinports are designed for the latest, tho I could be wrong. If this is the case and you don’t have a CF base, getting one may be the answer as you’ll drill the holes to the specific bumper.

On my Kinport handle, there was a little more plastic on one side of the underside, so it wasn’t quite snug to the base, so I took a sharp stanley knife to it- like a hot knife through butter! Very easy to trim down.
