Broken uni

I have a cheap, begginers uni (18’’), and as I have gotten better, I have begun to jump over and on to things. Now, the axle is starting to slip. if I am riding and I all of a sudden pedal quickly, or put a lot of pressure on the pedals quikcly, the pedals move, but not the wheel. I know, the uni is not made for jumping or doing tricks, but until I get a new uni (probably a Torker 20’’ LX for my birthday), is there a way to tempararaly (sp?) fix this problem for a month, just enough so that I can ride around? thanks

It sounds like the flanges or the hub body is no longer firmly fixed to the axle.

If you know (or can find) somebody who does welding they may be able to weld them together more firmly (you will probably need to take the cranks and bearings off first).

Otherwise you could buy a new hub, but you will need to get the wheel rebuilt, which might take you longer/cost more than you think the unicycle is worth

Well, the hub/spokes/rim is all one plastic peice. Like the ones on some bicycles. I tried drilling a self tapping screw threough the plastic hub into the axle, just as a temorary fix, but the axle is too hard. We tried Gorrilla glue, that helped a little bit untill it wore off. I have a bearing puller, but that has a little nippile on it and it keeps slipping off of the axle. I might just have to wait til my birthday, or try a lot more glue!:frowning:

Duct tape!

gorilla tape

drill a small hole all the way through the thing and put a bolt through
it should work

That’s exactly what I tried, but the axle is too hard, Even with a self tapping screw. I might use it for BC parts or sell it for parts at a garage sale. It’s driving me crazy not being able to ride!` :frowning: My birthday is only 11 more days though!
