Brand new

Hey, guys, (or girls?) i’m not so new to unicycling but im new to this community. I’m pretty sure i’ve been unicycling for a year and a half. Over the past ‘half’ i sort of just haven’t had time but now that i found this dandy spot, i think im going to hop back on it. because, i love it soooo much!

I’m self taught and it took me six weeks to get to the point where i could ride, forever without having to stop, or fall, and whatnot, and i can start up by myself! (no walls needed, here.)

I geuss this doesnt seem like much of an accomplishment to any of you guys here but i was curious, where did you start as far as tricks went?

I’d imagine going backwards would be the next thing in line for me, and any tips andyone could give me would be nice.

E mail me or im me.
I live in florida.
Whatever…
Peace.

Hey Willie–

Welcome to the fora! I’ve found that hanging out here helps get me excited about riding more, so you’ve come to the right place.

Riding backwards is a good next step. So is idling, or hopping. It sort of depends on what your goals are–I like to muni most of the time, so I work on stuff that’ll help me ride through tough technical areas of the trails in my area–so I practice hopping up steps and onto stuff, and hopping down again. I’m trying to learn how to go from a pedal grab up onto the tire again.

Just try something new, and then see where it takes you!

Hey, welcome to the forums!

Can you hop yet? If you can’t, I’d advise learning that.

Yay!! Welcome!! Idling, hopping and backwards riding are cool. One-foot riding is also very cool. Here is a very helpful site to take a look at.

Thanks, alot.
This all sounds pretty helpful.
How long have you, or other people you know been riding?

Welcome!

The others have already covered the basic tricks to learn, like hopping, backwards, idle, one-footed, and 180s are actually pretty easy once you can hop.

I have been ridding for about 3ish years now, and only in the last 9 months have I been really getting into it, and doing trials.

Before that, I just rode my uni from here to there, and learned some basic freestyle skills, then my uni broke, because the guys at the bikeshop put the wrong pedals on each side. After that I took a break off my uni cause I couldnt get enough money to buy new pedals and cranks, mainly form just being lazy.

I fixed my uni, then my bike got stolen, so that gave me more time to just uni. Ended up buying a Torker DX, broke that frame, upgraded to a Nimbus II frame, and now im here.
