Brake rotor size

Is there a maximum size rotor for on a unicycle, in the same way there is a max size for a specific bike frame or fork, and what would this size be? Just interested as I am likely to upgrade my rotor at some point, but don’t really fancy breaking (pun not intended) any components such as the frame/hub/brake

I have 203mm rotors on my 36, 27.5 and my 29.
My 27.5 is tritao and my 29 is flansberrium frames. The 36 Frame is the nimbus oracle.
I know the KH 36 used to come with a 203mm. Qu ax I have heard some of the frames breaking with anything bigger then 180mm.
What unicycle are you planning on upgrading the brake on?

It’s a Hatchet 26er, currently on 180mm

Next size will either be 200mm or 203mm, which I think will be fine on this frame. The man that will know for certain is @rogeratunicycledotcom

Except the first batch of RGB frames, they should all accept rotor bigger than 180 mm. Regarding the RGB frames, they had a weak spot that has been fixed since then. They could break if you’d have landed a big jump with the large rotor fully blocked by a powerful brake. I’ve done such a jump last month with a Saint brake (one on the most powerful DH brakes) and a 203 mm rotor. My first-batch RGB frame didn’t brake, whereas my freewheel hub as failed

If you feel fancy, you can also get a 220 mm rotor, but this may be exaggerated

@rogeratunicycledotcom could you possibly shed any light on this topic?

220mm feasible ?

Sorry I have not seen one that big.

Sitting in my closet I have a Magura Gustav M from around 2006 with a 210mm rotor. I think I have both IS and PM adapters for it, as I ran it on 3 different mountain bike forks. It’s super powerful but also heavy.

And it looks like they currently sell a 220mm rotor. You should probably ask Marco from Mad4One but I would guess that his frames would support it. And you need to find or fashion the proper adapter but shouldn’t be so hard to find.
