Bold Unicycling Ambitions?

This is just something I’m musing about…

Does anyone else here have any unicycling-related ambitions? For me, I’d love to spread the sport throughout the country and if possible, through the rest of Asia. I’ve been unicycling for almost 3 years now but have only started being actively involved in publicizing the sport about 6 months back.

Anyone else?

Im with you there.

I just want to ride north into Canada once I get to the east coast of the US. Head west through Canada until I get above Washington, head South, and ride home.

Or instead of coming home, ride the west-coast trails down to Mexico and back.

I want to make flatlanding a thing of it’s own, not some thing that comes out of street.

I also want to make my own unicycling DVD. I’m currently saving up for a really nice video camera.

My current ambitions are a bit more modest, I want to be able to complete 100-10-1 by the summer, and to ride 1 mile and marathon distance faster than the current running world records.

I would like to see all unicycling threads in RSU.

Wow, you’re coming as well? Nice! All of a sudden Cyprus is swarming with unicyclists! :smiley: :smiley: Where’s your family? I’m in Larnaca. Also, I might not be here in half a year, I might go to university(hopefully).

My unicycling ambitions are all about skills. Right now I’m working hard on one-foot riding and backwards. The beauty of it is, when I master those, there will be others that vex and plague my very existance until, one day, I master those. And then there’ll be others…aaaaarrrgh.

Everything has is origins, and its pre-origins. Unicycling did not originate in the circus, but it’s gotten lots of publicity from there, and Vaudeville died, so people still associate it with the circus.

So far, to my knowledge, Flatlanding has not come out of Street. Street has barely come out of Trials (or Open-X) at this point, so there’s lots of new history still to create. What’s your definition of Flatlanding? Anything like Freestyle? In any case, it will come from somewhere. The more important thing is to get it recognized as what you want it to be.

Some of my unicycling ambitions:

  • Get paid to unicycle (done)
  • Be a national champion (done)
  • Break the 100 mile record (did not attempt after it became 9:20)
  • Help create IUF and world championships (done)
  • Create new competition events: Gliding, Coasting, Offroad racing (done)
  • Change the main track wheelsize over to 700c (slow progress)
  • Have a MUni convention (done)
  • Race a full marathon (done)
  • Ride in a stage race (2008?)
  • Never miss a Unicon (so far so good)
  • Never miss a USA convention (missed 1987)
  • Perform on Johnny Carson (not done)
  • Get unicycling into the Olympics (very gradual progress)
  • Ride in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (not done)
  • Ride the steps from Rocky (done)
  • Ride in every state (about half)
  • Ride on every continent (3 so far)
  • Ride in zero or low gravity (not done)
  • Ride on my 100th birthday (wait)
