I’ve been riding for about 10 months now and have spent the majority of that time on a 20 inch koxx-one blueberry. Now that im getting into muni alot more i ride with a group of about 4 other people, all of which have 24 inches. im the youngest and they keep up a very fast pace. Being the only one on a 20 inch im starting to realize how much it makes certain things harder so i’ve decided to save up and buy a 24 inch. so now i ask you, what is a good 24 inch unicycle that can match my blueberry in quality?
buy this and upgrade to moment cranks and a kris holm freeride seat.
Thats the best possible deal. I second this decision.
Have you considered a 26" MUni? I have no idea what kind of trails you guys re riding but I think that most people would be better off with bigger wheels than they use. A 26 will roll better and be a faster in most situations, but are slightly heavier and harder to control in the tight stuff. I think the biggest advantage of having a 26 and a Trials is that between the two of them you can do everything you could do with a 24 and more.
It is also generally agreed that the Nimbus ISIS models are good bang for the buck.
Good luck with whatever you choose
oh and i should add that i want it to be able to keep up but still be able to do street and trials. it seems like blueberry could do all of them and this looks like it can pretty well too. oh and why the new cranks?
Nimbus ISIS will hold up equally well when you put KH moment cranks on it.
The stock cranks are ISIS, but arent that strong. The KH moments are strong, and worth it.
oh my gosh the cranks cost $140!! are cranks on a uni really that important. im not really sure about parts and things like that. and if i do get them what length should i get? oh and thanks for all the help so far. i definitely think that im going to go with the nimbus.
Yes, of you want ur uni to last. And it says here thta the cranks are 77$, i don’t know where you’re looking!
You could get dual hole ones in case you don’t make your mind up, but it all depends on how rough the terrain is, how fast you want to go, and what size wheel you have. 150/165 is most likely the cranks you’d be looking at, as as far as I know this is the general Muniing crank length.
Thw longer the crank, the harder you’ll find it to go fast. The longer the crank, the more balance, control and leverage you’ll have for tech Muni.
Maybe you should ask your friends what size cranks they have?
sounds like a 24"
I wouldn’t bother with new cranks right off the bat especially since you are 14 (most likely light weight and light wallet). People have been saying that you can upgrade to moments for $50 instead of buying them separate. If you are going to do that you need to talk to UDC first since they don’t list that as an option.
150mm cranks is a nice size for MUni, long enough for good torque and short enough that you can spin.
I would ask some of your friends if you could try theirs out for a ride, see what you like and what you don’t like, especially if different friends have different setups. Then you can know what you really want when it comes time to order your uni
