Black Forest Ultra Bike Marathon - Germany 23rd June 2013

The Black Forest ULTRA Bike Marathon is the largest Mountainbike-Marathon in Middle-Europe! Every year more than 5000 bikers participate in this fantastic event in the Southern Black Forest (Kirchzarten near Freiburg/Germany). Here some impressions from 2012 which are representative.

There are five different tracks. Last year I participated inofficially in the “Speed Track” (52km/32 mi, about 1100m/3600ft uphill and 1800m/5900ft downhill). It was tough, but a lot of fun and I managed to finish second last in 5:12, still within the time limit (5:30).

After the event I had some further conversations with the organizer of the event. He was very openminded and showed interest in our sport. He now officially opend up the Speed Track to unicyclists. The event takes place on 23rd June. In order to register you need to send the organizer an e-mail (see bottom of the announcements). If at least three unicyclists should register, then they will create a separate unicycle category.

I hope for a solid two-digit figure of participants!
