I just downloaded a game using bittorrent. I thought i would have a cd image i could use but i have a hole bunch of wierd files that end in .001-0.045 and a .sfv file. There are three folders filled with that stuff. Please help.
I know i shouldnt be helping your ghetto game pirating ass but im stupid. Besides, im sure if you want the game bad enough youll just dl it in another format.
Im pretty sure the sfv file is some kinda CRC checker to make sure you downloaded all you crap ok.
There seem to be alot of archive formats that put numbers on the extensions of consectuive files. But usually the first file of the set has a unique extension from which you can determine the archive format. ace rar ?? i dunno
So check out IZArc. It can open something like 50 archive types. Hopefully your game will be in one of those formats.

Whats with people using bit torrent for games? just use something like kazza lite and have firewall and varius other internet protection programs running. Ive only used bit torrent for downloading Naruto files.

You do need to be very careful when getting warez or a keygen. There are some that include trojans and other nasties. The people distributing those things are not the most ethical people to begin with. They’re probably more interested in recruiting systems for their botnet than in giving you a clean warez download or keygen.
I was just reading a thread today on a security forum about a guy trying to figure out what infected his system after visiting a keygen web site. I wouldn’t visit that keygen site unless I had a computer that I was willing to sacrifice and repave (reinstall the OS and everything) afterwards. There are a lot of nasties out there and looking for warez and keygens is one way to find them.
Just running an anti virus and a firewall will not protect you from sites like that keygen web site. The nasty that the person got was not identified by many of the AV products. They know how to make outbound connections without triggering the firewall. It’s a harsh world out there if you go looking for it.
