ok… if you didn’t notice
this is what im saving for seems good for the price …
i dont know if i should buy a new bike, or just look for a cheap ratty old peice for a starter bike.
i need to get more money…
Exactly…this is a unicycle forum.
We just have to try everything, but that doesn’t mean that we get any good at it.
I’m sure there’s a biketrials forum that is newbie-friendly out there.
I might be getting my first trials bike tomorrow!!! It’s an old used mod Monty, but hey, it’s $100, my first bike, sounds like it’s in good condition, and is the only thing I’ve seen in my area for the past 2 months. It also looks like it’s been modded because it has a red and I think an orange rim (could be surface rust) in the front. I don’t really know though, sounds good to me
Cool.
As always, if you decide you don’t like it I’ll take it off your hands:p
Ughh, I want this bike so bad nowwwww, but he’s out of the area right now
YAY! I got an original vintage Monty. It’s got serious surface rust and the spokes are out of true, and it could also do with some maguras but other than that, it’s awesome, I’m gonna work on it tomorrow and get some pics up
a guy wants to sell me a koxx/echo/zhi cross for 450, and he’d bring it to me also
bigger picture -
Cool, if there’s nothing wrong with it, I’d consider it.
i dont know anything about bike trials but i want to maybe start but just do really really small stuff (bunny hopping, curbs) is there a cheap ($200) bike i could get with a seat? would a bmx bike work?
if your going to be doing curbs, you can use a normal bike. A bmx bike is not a good option for Trials. Trials bikes and BMX bikes are different. A bmx bike has different brakes, way heavier, and its handlebars are really weird.
I see what your going at, you normally see Monty’s, that have seats. But, those are old 1990’s Monty Mod Trial Bikes. You could go on your local craigs list, and search bike trial, and find one.
My friends wanting to get into trials and I was wondering if it would be alright to use a 26 inch mountain bike for it?I don’t think so but who knows?
yeah, go for it, a mountain bike is better than anything else. ive read stories of a lot of people learning to do even rear wheel hopping on a mountain bike.
Yah, the guy I bought my trials bike from does his trials on a mountain bike. He said that the main difference is that there’s a certain “sweet spot” where you’re gonna be able to hop, and that it’s just much easier to find and there’s a bigger one on a trials bike. If you wanna devote the time to learning on a mountain bike, you should go for it.
Best look on craigslist, just keep checking, eventually something will show up. I waited a few months and I got a old Monty trials for $80
I think I heard somewhere that a BMX would work but you’d have to mod it and stuff, not sure.
Your insanely luck to find a trials bike on craigslist. I have been looking on their for kayaks and such for a while now.
Wooden planks anyone?
I’m still wondering how everyone can get their hands on those wooden plnaks used with forklifts… How exactly do you get them? I mean, I’ve been doing a bit of trials and I seriously need to know how to get some so if anyone knows please reply or message me
