Would I be able to ride and jump higher/easier if I put bike clip-in pedals on my unicycle?
Try it and see
edit: im joking
Those would help you if it was impossible to fall. If you did fall you’d be in big trouble. I’d stick with regular pedals.
edit: 800th post Woot!!!
i thinkt’d be rather deadly:o
i see skilled coker riders being the only ones who could use the edge…i think hopping and trialsy stuff would be just plain insanity to attempt clipped in
It has been done before, most seem to think that is does improve your riding but is not worth the added risk.
I certainly wouldn’t “try it to find out”.
Please tell me you’re not serious! What could be next? trying to velcro your butt to the saddle!
Haha, but seriously, between my Drillium pedals and “High Impact” Five Ten shoes, it sure feels like I’m clipped in!
good idea.
but bad idea about the clipless pedals.
Well, maybe not so good for hopping, lol!
get some crank brothers mallets and lossen the tension all the way and try it.
Ive heard and seen a few riders with the mentioned pedals.
When they fall, they just clip right out and land on their feet fine. Non of them said they have had their feet stuck and caused them to wreck bad, so it cant be too bad of an idea to try them out.
just wear wrist guards and you’ll probably be okay, also wear a helmet (obviously :p)
Don’t they connect to the front of the foot? Kill your ankle on a larger drop.
crank bros pedals don’t have adjustable tension
idk thats kinda scary.
but if they were really loose then i guess it wouldnt be to bad. bu im not going to try it. lol
i think you might be able to do it with one of those pedals and one normal pedal so if you fall you could catch yourself
Dude, that will wreck you foot… First of all, they are set in the front of your foot, so on larger drops, you could break your ancle or worse, like said earlier.
Secound, I’ve tried them on my other bike. To get them of you first have to pull your foot as close to the tire as possible, and then pull back! You wont be able to do that if you are going to fall.
I’ve got some adidas shoes, Jamaica or something, and costum Kris Holm pedals. I grip just find, but of course, you could use your feet to pull your unicycle up even higher!
it could be done, Steve Peat a world champion downhill moutain biker rides clipped in when he is competing. He has won the downhill world cup being clipped in, Some sets of clip ins are hard to release from but some are really easy to clip out of. I know Steve Peat has wrecked his ankles in a couple of times because he didn’t unclip when he crashed. I would say just go for it, you never know they could give you a huge advantage. Just practise clipping out of them so when you are about to fall you can land on your feet.
i know a guy who used to ride clips for commuting. he had had several thousand miles experience on bikes with these pedals before he tried it so was extremley fast clipping them out. They didn’t really offer any advantage over normal grippy pedals. Also any kind of drop is highly likely to damage your achilles tendon.
I say go for it! Don’t listen to all these wussies and their aversion of broken bones. Casts are sexy!
