big weekend!

For those who attended, how did the CA MUni weekend turn out?

I successfully rode over a small twig this weekend without falling…that’s as
close to a MUni experience as I can get right now

Actually, this was a big weekend for me, I freemounted for the first time
on Saturday and was able to improve to about a 20% success rate on Sunday!
I’m FREE!!!

Advice for other newbies…the same thing that helped me progress from 10ft
rides to 40ft distances and up, worked with freemounting: look ahead, not down.
If you can get your foot on the pedal without looking down as you make the hop,
you’ll find that it is much easier to maintain the proper forward lean and keep
your balance.

It was fantastic! I cannot remember the last time I have had so much fun. I was
way out of my league in terms of unicycling skill (and physical endurance) but
everyone was incredibly nice and the trails were a great time. The terrain that
some of these guys can go over is mind boggling.

I’ll try to write up the stone novice view of the event and post it this
week-end. A big thanks to John Foss for setting this up.

Great idea John! I was going to ask people to do just that, to get some
perspective of the event from different riders, especially people on the novice
rides, which I never get to see. Please write in, folks, and tell us your
impressions, what you liked, what you disliked, and what you’d like to see
different at MUni Weekend 99 in Santa Cruz!

I will be coming out with a report of my own real soon, with the official count,
race results, etc.
