While visiting relatives in Fort Collins, Colorado I found this sculpture in an art gallery.
We were looking for a high school graduation present for our niece but found this for me instead. I had to go get my wife from the car. When she saw it she wouldn’t let me leave without it!
I agree it was one of those things that I would regret if I left it behind!
This artist is from Columbia. His name is Roberto Gutierrez. What are the odds of finding another quality sculpture of a big wheeled unicyclist? I am trying to find out what inspired him to do a sculpture of a big wheel unicyclist.
The piece is bronze on a marble base. The base is 10 inches by 5.5 inches. Its height is 9 inches. The wheel is 6 inches in diameter. The rider is 3.5 inches tall. Looks fantastic on a desk!
The price was listed at $650.00. However, after I convinced the owner of the gallery that there are only a few big-wheeled unicyclists in the world, and had my Coker in my car to prove that I was one, she let it go for $400.00. I am not much into art but I would have given her the $650.00 listed if I had too. I like it a whole lot. It looks way better in real life than it does in a photo!
I have a nice brochure of the artist Roberto Gutierrrez. It’s hard to explain his style. Bronze sports figures for the most part. However, not what you would typically think of as sports figures. He made a very cool sculpture of a guy on stilts.
Next to all of the pieces displayed in his brochure is a number that I assume means the number of copies made of each piece. The number is anywhere from 0 to 9 copies on most figures. There could possibly be some copies of this piece left in the event anyone is interested.
I have a phone number (from the brochure) of an art studio in the states (Florida) if anyone is interested. Also if anyone would like to see a different picture of the piece, I have several more that I can post. Just let me know and I would be happy to do so

Kinda, yeah. I’m not really an art guy, but… nice.

First I must state that I just a friend of Dan’s that helped him post the original pic. I visit several BBS’s for my hobby and recognized the software here.
Apparently when we logged in from my computer last night, it saved Dan’s password and logged me in as him. I tried to register myself, but it keeps defaulting to Dan’s account, so I am posting this under his name.
…
The following text was emailed to me by Dan along with these other pics.
"Here are several more pictures that I took. Enjoy. Also, the number to
the art studio in Florida is 954-344-0768. Alex Franco is the person
listed that is associated with the studio. If someone finds out any
additional information about the piece, his work, or if anymore are
available, please let me know.
