BFR rim & magura brake... problem?

Hi,

I want to use a magura brake on my muni. I have a BFR rim, but I just noticed the seam is showing and I can feel it when I run my finger across it.

Can anyone tell me if this will present a smoothness issue when the pads run along the rim during braking?

Work the maze.

nah

nah, but if your worried, sand or file it down, dont worry, nothing will happen to the rim!

Bike trial riders actually take a angle grinder to the walls of their rims to improve braking. works like a treat!

I lightly sanded the rim at the joint on my old muni for smoother braking with no problems. Now I have a disc brake which is better still.

Disk Brake? I’ve only seen one set of pictures to do with disk brakes on Muni’s. Any chance you could post some on the Gallery and a description of how you got around the asymmetry problem? Did you use an asymmetric hub or an asymmetric frame. How did you find the clearances between the disk, hub, frame and brake pots? Basically any info would be greatly appreciated.

Muniac.com has something on a disk brake. Go there and then click on empirical Muni. That might be of some help.

I read it about a week ago, but had to evac when my two year old took me away.

later

I used a commercially available front hub and disc brake kit and then had an axle made and mated to it. The rim is laced offset so that the frame is symetrical. I’ve had it for 3 months now with so far no problems. I’ll try to get some photos up this week.
