If one intends to learn this mount, one has to be ready to experience these
things. Seeing it won’t make much difference. I have always taught giraffe
freemounting as a series of steps. At each step the rider must learn to, and
be comfortable with, falling in every direction of the compass from that
position. If you don’t do this, you raise the odds of panicking and getting
hurt. But if you do do this, you will know how to fall comfortably in any
direction, and have no need to panic. You just land on your feet, with the
frame between your legs or wherever.
