Ben meets Ben.

Ben Peterson was the 198 lb. gold medalist in wrestling in the '72 Olympic games and spent last Friday night with our wrestlers at the Rochelle Jr. High and High School combined wrestling practice. At the end of practice, he spent some time talking with the boys and passed his medals around for the boys to see. It was an honor to meet him and hear him speak. I understand that Mr. Peterson recently retired from coaching wrestling at Maranatha Bible College in Wisconsin.

Here’s a picture of Ben and Ben. Ben (Edwards) wrestles in the 135 lb. weight class at Rochelle Middle School.

Its cool you could have this brush with greatness. Who knows, maybe more Olympians named Ben to come?

Didn’t have one with us. Sure would have made a great picture though, wouldn’t it? I’m sure he’s competitive enough to have given it a go had we had a uni with us.
