Bedford Unicycles

Ok, I have been hearing about Bedford unicycles for a while now, but their web site has yet to have anything half decent on it. does anyone know where I can check out pics and/or product specs? Any reviews? Prices? Do they fit a 24x3.0 tire?

David

The site will be up in about 2 weeks. Carl Hoyer is designing the site.
Right now he is in California riding with Nathan Hoover and other guys.

I will post a message when it’s up and running.

Cheers,

Darren

Re: Bedford Unicycles

You’d be best to email the man himself, Darren Bedford at
bedford_unicycles@yahoo.ca.

However, the uni I bought from him has worked out great; I’m running a
24x2.6" tire and it works fine. The frame I have won’t accept anything
bigger than that although you would have to ask him about his other stuff.

a quick squiz at google came up with this:

especially:

which i think shows some 3inch tired ones but not quite sure

richardg.

His frames fit 2.6 max. Either 24" or 26"

A 24x2.6 Muni is $300cdn (way better than unicycles.com if you’re canadian)

I just got my frame from there. It’s going to be alot tougher to bend my seatpost now (although they are the same diameter 22.0) becaust the frame goes up about 2-3" higher, so most of the seatpost is inside the frame.

I’m impressed

Re: Bedford Unicycles

Isn’t the seat post diameter 22.2mm?

(I measured with some calipers)

it’s stamped 22.0, I never physically measured

Re: Bedford Unicycles

Taiwanese seat tubes O/D as far as I can tell are always 22.0
Japanese seat tubes O/D are 22.2

All the frames that I have ever measured, Taiwanese and Japanese frames I/D
are 22.2

Good piece of useless information.

I think the next run of unis will fit a 3.0. As for reviews I believe there is a review on the Calgary Unipsycho’s page

I bought a Bedford about 6 months ago. The only problem I have had was the spokes needed to be retightened after about a month which is pretty standard for any new wheel as far as I know.
Keep checking his page or email him for prices/stock etc. He’s quite reasonable.

Re: Bedford Unicycles

Ya David, Drewnicycle was right, we have a review on our site. Go to
http://www.ethereal3d.com/uni/ then go into the FAQ section and there is a
link at the bottom for the bedford review. One of our riders wrote the
review on the Bedford he bought. There are lots of pictures as well so you
know what your getting.

Two of our riders now use Bedfords (mind you they have both had to upgrade
the hub to a suzue after busting the axel, bought you’re best bet would be
to do that when you order one, get a suzue hub that is)

Hope that helps you out.

I have read that review of the Bedford Unicycle at mikes unipsycho page and it is overall a positive review. However, I was amazed at all the little stuff that had to be dealt with.

I bought a 24" sem XLW with the Kovachi wheel through Unicycle.com and have had no problems except a loose pedal that I just torqued down on and has been fine ever since.

In an earlier thread, I asked whether the Bedford Muni frame is the same as the Sem XLW frame. As far as I can tell, no one has answered that one. Let’s assume that the bedford uses the same Torker frame that is used on the SEm XLW.

If that is the case, then I would suggest the the SEM XLW. For a little more, I would think you wouldn’t have to deal with the little maladies of the Bedford.

On the plus side for the Bedford, I think you don’t have to pay that import tax(if in Canada) that you would have to pay with a Muni from Unicycle.com.

If the Bedford and the SemXLW are two different frames, then I am just blowin some hot air. Someone will correct me and I will have learned something new.

Work the maze.

Re: Bedford Unicycles

Greetings

The unicycle sold to Jerry was an entry level unicycle. At the time he was
looking for an inexpensive option. There are many advanced models available. I
will have a complete list on the site when it is up and running within a couple
weeks.
Lots of info will be available soon.

Cheers,

Darren
