Sorry if this has already been posted before but i was wondering about the advantages and disadvantages of different forms of bearing housings available in modern unicycle frames. As far as i can see these are…
-
The older type found in CrMo frames where the two halves of the bearing housing do not actually meet.
-
The modern Aluminium housings found on KH and new Nimbus frames where the two halves of the housing meet.
-
The Qu-Ax and Impact housings which have a nut dropped into the upper housing in stead of there being a thread.
-
A pressed housing.
While obviously a pressed housing is built as well as the others, are there any reasons (aside from the frames themselves) to favour one form of housing over another.
In addition would there be any problem mixing 2 of the styles by putting a d-brake on a CrMo frame?
