Banff Mountain Film Festival in Santa Cruz, California

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is always great fun if you like the
outdoors, mountains etc. Again this year it has a Unicycling film, Kris’s
White Trax short on snow riding. Alas, Into The Thunder Dragon was too long
for them. The traveling festival is coming to Santa Cruz this weekend and
some of us are going. Check out http://www.banffcentre.ca/mountainculture/
for general information on when the tour will come to you, and if you are
local, check out http://www.ucsc.edu/opers/rec/ for info on the Santa Cruz
shows this weekend. It’s also coming to San Jose, Berkeley, Davis, San
Francisco and other locations in California in the next couple of months if
you can’t make this one.

Muni ride in Santa Cruz before the Saturday show of course!

My nephews, Dad, and I went to this in CT last year. What a fantastic experience! I’ll always remember that as a fun night. The films were amazing. Unizaba was good; it was neat to hear a woman behind us oohing and ahhhing. But the best films were the skiing and snowboarding films. Simply amazing!!!

Go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go - go

It was great! I heartily recommend looking up on the web site below and
seeing when the festival is coming to your town. It’s playing in hundreds of
cities over an 11 month period. Sunday’s last film was White Trax and the
audience loved it.

On a [slightly] related note Banff would be a great place to go muni riding.

You can catch a gondola up sulphur moutain to a height of 7,486 feet (2,281m) and then descend at track with a vertical drop of 2,292 feet (698m). I was sorely tempted to do just that but unfortunately didn’t have the time to do so.

Anyone tried this?
