Backyard Twister

I’ve been jonesing for a ride all day, and when it looked like MUni was out, thought about taking the Coker for a spin to the gym west of me. That didn’t work out so I was sitting bummed on the couch when I get a call to look west. My main concern is I had time to walk outside and run back in for the camera before I heard I heard the sirens, but I digress. The twister at this point was a mere 1 mile south of my mere moments earlier planned route, and the photo is from my backyard or about 3 miles as the crow flies - whew too close…

…and now for the bad part. Though I was outside the entire time there was little hail and no rain, but my wife was closer. She was at the bowling alley with our 2006 Dodge Dakota, where there was plenty of hail like below. Yes we will be calling our insurance man in the morning…

Wow, that’s pretty crazy! Close call.

I was actually right in the middle of Cyclone Larry when it hit land in Queensland Australia. Class 5. 290 Km/h winds. We were all evacuated out of the hostel I was in and ushered into a bar. They gave out free liquor the whole time keeping morales and blood-alcohol up- although, I thought for sure that I was going to die. But, against mother nature’s best wishes, here I am. I was in a place called Tully that wasn’t hit as bad as some other places, but it was still scary.

that cyclone was a bastard we dont have any bananas anymore

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO–OUCH-klahoma, land of tornadoes! You know what they say down there after the storm passes…
Aw Hayell!

Glad everyone’s okay. I remember a storm of large hail (not quite so large) in Michigan in 1983 that broke windows, dented aluminum siding, and made lots of car insurance agents cry.

if someone would have gotton a picture of you getting sucked up into that thing they could post it in the stuff not to do on a unicycle page with the caption “storm tracker.”

That’s crazy man!
I’ve never seen a tornado…I think I almost saw one, when I lived in Virginia, but nope…

On the other hand I’ve been told I just passed up the opportunity to set a new Coker speed record. In this case I hope opportunity does only knock once.

lol, 250mph. yup, that would be the undisputed record for a good long while

Twisters crazy.
The funny thing is whenever I meet someone from the mid west there always like whoah you have earthquakes that must be crazy. twisters seem worst.

As you can tell from the photo you can dodge a twister, how the heck do you dodge a earthquake??

at first I thought you were talking about playing Twister in your backyard…

jump

:sunglasses:

if you’re on a hovercraft, can you feel an earthquake?

If you’re using a jackhammer, can you feel an earthquake?
