back in frames

a friend of mine is designing a site for his sister and is using frames…
anyway, he wants to do the back link using javascript:history.back(1) but
when he opens a page itll open in a non framed windows, and then when the
back link is clicked it goes back to the main url since the other windows
were opened in frames and all, is there a way to make it go back to the
last window opened in the frame?

Try these:

<a href=“JavaScript:parent.frames[1].history.back()”>Back</a>

<a href=“JavaScript:parent.frames[1].history.forward()”>Forward</a>
