My bikes keep getting stolen approx. every two years. They’re locked the same as everybody elses and they wheren’t even expenspensive or anything. I guess I’m just unlucky.
But now I got a new bike Really new, and not second hand this time. It’s strong enough to carry equipment, and has enough of a gear range to be used both for commuting and for hauling our tent, luggage, kids etc. when we’re going camping.
I hope I get to keep this bike for a while.
That is an amazing bike!! I am so jealous, it’s the kind of thing i want, but my parents refuse to spend much on a bike. They went skits when i said i wanted £168 unicycle. But i got that because i paid for it myself luckily.
I might be getting a czar freetrials. BAMF. I was going to get a custom 24" maybe with the inspired frame, but this would be easier so meh. I might get another uni or two. I can’t decide if I really want a bike.
thats the sstuff i want to do if i get a full suspension…but $2000 is a lot for a good bike…and 2000 isnt even that much compared to really good stuf… and i would have to get it myself 2
I respect those who can ride like that iff they ride their bike to the top of the hill rather than shuttle and iff they can ride down without dragging the rear wheel behind them (ride don’t slide).
I respect anyone with good bike handling skills whether it be BMX, trials, dirt jumping, freeride, MTB, road riding, or commuting. The commuters who ride all season long and use their bike(s) for transportation to avoid driving a car everywhere get the most respect.
The guys in the video weren’t dragging the rear wheel down the trail. I was making a general comment. I’ve seen local trails chewed up from bikes that drag the rear wheel down the steep bits. It creates ruts and trail erosion and is bad for the trail.
If you don’t have the skills and bike handling to ride a particular trail then stick to easier trails till you do have the skills. Don’t chew up a trail because you have no skills.
The trail friendly aspect of muni is that you can’t chew up a trail by dragging the wheel.
That’s from the video Roam. It won best action sports video of the year when it came out. The whole thing is pretty good, I wish it had more riding and fewer filler scenes though:o
I plan to get a used alluminum hardtail soon to keep things interesting. The speeds needed to keep trails challenging w/ full suspention is scarry for me. I wouldn’t want to UPD at 30 mph w/ rocks all around.
JC - another good thing about Munis:)
There is a community bike shop in my town. It’s run by all vollunteers and all the $ they make goes to rent, electricity, and a few new parts. If you don’t want to pay for the labor or for parts you can work it off at $10 per hr. They’ve estimated the bike I want to get at ~ $250 and don’t have one in my size, but I’m hoping they will when I finish the 20 hrs I have left.
I’ve been racing XC for 7 years now I guess. Its pretty much become my life, starting in April until the end of August I have a race every weekend and the rest of the week I’m training. I do some 24 hr races too, which are defiantly the most fun (good way to really find out your inner strength). I got into unicycling cuz I saw a team of unicyclists at a 24hr race I was at and thought it was amazing. Unicycling is VERY important to me but biking will always be # 1.
I’m taking my racing really seriously this year, I find out this week if I got sponsored. I just bought all new parts for my bike so I’ve very happy with it.
So ya, this is a pretty cool thread, I like to hear that other people ride
P.S. If people want to know my bike set up let me know
