Dang. He hardly even rides that thing.
Shoot. He makes jumping up to picnic tables look so easy
Sensational desterity and timing to say nothing of the balance. Think of how many rasberries he got perfecting some of those moves.
A-frickin-mazing.
JL
I wonder how he rides that thing…
Woah, 4 wheels…
Is he in the circus?
Sorry, wrong answer!
Watch “The Search for Animal Chin,” an early Powell-Peralta skate video, to see the godfathers of skateboarding. There you will find the people who “like” invented skateboarding as it is known today.
Sure, there have been skaters that invented new tricks, and sure, there are others that continue to push the envelope, but none exist that compare to The Bones Brigade: Steve Caballero, Tommy Guerrero, Tony Hawk, Mike McGill and Lance Mountain.
Until you’ve seen the light, don’t go blaspheming the godfathers…
I think he means he was a creator of street/freestyle. Like mixing handsatnds and street skating.
The search for animal chin is rAd
…they did that in Animal Chin, too…
i neednt even watch, i just saw rodney mullen, and i know how he is like half god half man… bow down to the mullen…
Chase
I hit my head bowin to quickly!! This guy is awsome, how does he do it!!! I would trade all my uni skill and never ride it again to be that good on a skateboard!!
no rite answer he invented the olie almost every streat trick has its begnings as an olie
Did you do any research on the topic before you spewed out this stinker of a post? I think not.
Yes, the ollie was invented around when Rodney started skating, but he wasn’t the inventor. The man you should pay homage to is Alan “Ollie” Gelfland.
Don’t be fooled by all the hype you hear from your buddies and what you see on MTV or wherever you kids get your news from these days. Skateboarding’s roots run deep. Don’t disrespect the godfathers.
Thank you, maestro, but to give rodney credit, he was the first to take the ollie to flatground. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ollie_(Skateboarding_trick)
Its funny I undersand how its done, and hte phisics in it but I cannot do it anymore, I remeber doin it in my old house back when i have pavement but i tried again not too long ago and couldnt come close…I was pissed, how the f*ck do you olie!?
This was me when I got my first board. I was mad as hell that every skater I knew could ollie over their mother, but I couldn’t even get the back wheels off the ground. I spent weeks in my front yard trying to ollie in place until I finally achieved lift-off…
Now that I think of it, that’s kinda like learning to unicycle, although you can’t get p*ssed about not being able to uni 'cause you don’t see everybody and their little brother doing it.
The secret’s in your back foot. You need to barely tap the tail of the board, like you’re jumping using only one foot, while kicking the front foot up and out. I dunno how to describe it really, you just have to watch some viddys and try it over, and over, and over…
I cant even ollie. I can ride down some little skatepark hills though.
This a a quote from your site did you read it?
“The ollie was invented by Alan “Ollie” Gelfand in 1978 on vert and it remained as a vert only trick until 1981 when Rodney Mullen first performed the trick on flat ground.”
invented by Gelfand on vert, taken to flatground by Mullen.
so where’s the confusion?
