I’ve been using Audioscrobbler since September last year; it is indeed great. Are you able to use the Last.fm side of the site from where you are? This really rounds it off nicely… see what you listen to then listen to stuff like it, or listen to your own stuff when elsewhere.
Plus one of the creators of the site, RJ, is TreePotato’s brother… how’s that for the “six degrees” malarkey…
