Atheist wants to be warned if GOD songs are on the album
How many of you Atheists get disgusted when you buy a CD or go to a concert, and then you have to sit through some GOD song, like J. Tull’s Wind Up, or so many Beatles songs ruining otherwise good albums, etc. [Instant Karma, My Sweet Lord, Within you Within You, Inner Light, Nothing’s Gonna Change My World, on & on…]
What’s with that???!
I’m thinking if Atheists got together, we could make them put warning labels on albums and concert promotions. I don’t want my kids listening to any GOD smack, do you?
After I figured out that many of Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s songs were of a religious nature (they sing mostly in Zulu), it did not detract from my enjoyment of their wonderful music.
Besides, I absolutely LOVE Christmas music. Go figure.
Dave: Beware of the suble influence and do not listen to that music around children!!!
I’m not just talking obvious Punk Krishna Hardcore Punk bands like Shelter, or Celtic/Christian Oi! bands like Flatfoot 56. Any Atheist would be a fool to listen to that. But mainstream radio is pounding this stuff at us. The Wind Beneath My Wings.
There oughta be a law!!
Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely?: I can’t believe what GOD has done, through us he’s given life to one…
Ian Hunter…from an album entitled “All-American Alien Boy” (1976), is even promoting Creationism:
“Oh we made mistakes - too many cards - but making human beings can be hard
A God gets tired of playing so much chess - he wishes his God would get him out of his mess”
I said to God “What’s it like to die” He said “It’s as plain as the sea and sky
Conception was him and me and you - when your batteries fade we all just move on”
I know devout Atheist GILd (aka GILby) doesn’t play this stuff at his radio station, but he’s doing nothing to protect the kids through legislation!!!
Why do we have to sit through GOD when I want to watch a sporting event:
God Bless America.
Land that I love
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
America by Samuel F. Smith
Our fathers’ God to Thee,
Author of Liberty,
To thee we sing,
Long may our land be bright
With Freedom’s holy light,
Protect us by thy might
Great God, our King.
Darwinians and Atheists UNITE in the FIGHT to save our children from this BLIGHT!!
If you’re an atheist, just treat them like songs about myths and stories of lore. They become significantly less offensive.
There is a difference between an atheist and an religiophobe. Sounds like you may be both, Billy T. Mountain!
You don’t have believe in “God the father” to understand that many of the principles taught by Christianity or any other world religion are useful tools for meandering through life’s jouney.
I’m a Taoist, so I can accept religious folks and take the tales that are their faith’s foundation in stride, frequently learning a great deal from them, too~!
i agree with you about “The Pledge of Allegiance” i personaly dont think it is right to make our children say this… and another thing… that whole “this cd contains biblical reference” sticker would be amazing! just my 2 cents.
I’m not so sure about Christian artists making an extra effort to enunciate clearly (as I sift through my mp3s trying to find one). Although, I don’t regularly listen to any of the more common ones. I wonder how many of the albums created by Christian artists that I have would qualify for such a GOD warning sticker.
So you don’t think us religiophobes should have rights???
“We believe in the formless and eternal Tao, and we recognize all personified deities as being mere human constructs. We reject hatred, intolerance, and unnecessary violence, and embrace harmony, love and learning, as we are taught by Nature. We place our trust and our lives in the Tao, that we may live in peace and balance with the Universe, both in this mortal life and beyond.” Creed of the Western Reform Taoist Congregation
History of Taoism:
Tao (pronounced “Dow”) can be roughly translated into English as path, or the way. It is basically indefinable. It has to be experienced. It “refers to a power which envelops, surrounds and flows through all things, living and non-living. The Tao regulates natural processes and nourishes balance in the Universe. It embodies the harmony of opposites (i.e. there would be no love without hate, no light without dark, no male without female.)”
Tao Tao America.
Land that I Tao Tao
Stand beside her, and Tao Tao her
Thru the night with a light from Tao Tao.
I bought a new CD by the Stereophonics the other day and I for one was HORRIFIED at the songs on it.
The first track is subtitled “She’s out of her mind” which is BLATANTLY sexist AND offensive to those with mental difficulties. The second is “Maybe Tomorrow” which will OUTRAGE anyone who is terminally ill with only one day to live. Track seven is APPALLINGLY entitled “Climbing The Wall”, and if that doesn’t offend physically handicapped people then frankly I don’t know what will. Track nine is subtitled “You gotta go there to come back” which I considered a DISGUSTING advertisement for frivolous hypermobility which will no doubt destroy the planet if left unchecked. Track twelve is “High As The Ceiling” which can only refer to drug abuse and so also leaves me shocked and stunned.
Even the name of the band I consider the utmost rudeness to people deaf in one ear.
I think an urgent brainstorming session is required to overcome these difficulties. But wait! The word “Brainstorming” is HIGHLY offensive to people with epilepsy! Won’t somebody please think of the children!!!
I didn’t say anything about peoples rights or the labels. I just thought atheists may not necessarily be the crowd that would really require the lablels. That’s all.
