Geez, first time I’ve logged on in over two years! Crazy, I used to live on this site! I also used to ride every day! ha.
I had a bad car accident in 2011, and consequently was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia from the trauma. Thus, unicycling went out the window!! This week I got back on the 29" and have been starting to ride again- feels amazing!
Watching some old videos, I’m keen to get back on the 20" and work on some flat and street skills. I am however pretty nervous. If you look up Fibromyalgia, you’ll understand why! But, I think it’s possible…I’m pretty damn keen!
Is anyone else on here suffering with chronic illness, but still managing to be fabulous and and awesome and ride?
Good to be back…and now I must edit my page and all it’s teenagery foolishness!
Wow Alice, you really are FABULOUS! You must be really pushing some boundaries to be doing this sort of exercise. Hope you manage to keep it up and other forms of exercise as well. Pretty important to keep the brain happy.
I had no idea what fibromyalgia was, thankyou very much for the article Prozac.
Well done for getting back on the uni AliceFish, and welcome back!
How are you finding riding as a form of therapy? I saw that pregabs and antidepressants are regularly prescribed for fibromyalgia…do you take any, or both of these? (My apologies if that’s too personal)
I find that when I’m unicycling I’m focussed on nothing but the unicycle, so I can see how you think it’ll help
Thanks everyone! It’s so nice to be welcomed back!
I find unicycling awesome thus far, because it’s quite smooth and gentle, just cruising on the 29", and I can keep my posture really straight and awesome, unlike on a bike or something! Which is awesome because I get a lot of neck and back pain! (I’m yet to start bouncing around on my 20")
I’m trying to come off my medications, go natural! But I have been on a range of painkillers, and about 7 antidepressants for sleep health and pain! And all the brain build up from inactivity and fatigue, too! I’ve found Endep to be amazing. And a whole crap load of vitamins and vegetables!
