What is the point of reading the forums? Basically all topics have been covered. It seems like a newbie zone in RSU and a chat room in JC. For us longer-time members who have read most of the stuff that has been posted, what is the point of reading more? Of course the questions of newer members need answering by someone, though.
By the way, I will stay unbiased at this point. I was just putting the topic out there for discussion.
I agree a little bit…they are certainly getting repetitive. however, unicycling is a very young sport. as such, there are constantly more and more new innovations, from the Schlumpf 29er to the Trey Flip…so no, these here fora are not obsolete just yet (:
Well, I would confess to reading JC rather more than the unicycle threads, especially during Mikefule’s temporary absence. JC is fine although it could do without all those “chain of” and “let’s re-write the bible one letter per post” type of rubbish.
Do some in here seriously have time to read and contribute to that junk? I already spend too much time in here without even reading any of those.
JC: just conversation? I’ll tell you when one of my real conversations reaches the 10,000th digit of Pi . Just don’t hold your evolution.
Whats getting old and repetitive is disscussing how old and repetitive it’s getting. If you don’t want to read something, then don’t, and don’t worry about it.
Plus, if you’re spending time complaining about how the forums are wasting time, then you’re wasting valuable time you could be using to unicycle for a long time.
go to my new thread then, if you think its old and repetitive,
and even though i am only 16 by the time a thread gets made again by a newb i have usually forgotten the last time it was attempted so i dont worry and i just post like it was my first time in a similar thread.
the thing that really bothers me though is people that dont put a poll in questions like this when there really should be
I would totaly agree. I have actualy found that I am posting way less lately due to posts just getting worse and worse and I just want them to slip into the nethers.
I would like to blame it on the loss of the rep system but I doubt it was this bad beforehand. Many people say that I could report posts, I could pm. Yes I could do those things but alot of the posts aren’t flaming, or spam particularly they are just posts that aren’t helpful to the community and are clogging up the search engine. Pm’ing people is one way of doing it but alot of the time I think people are going to take it personally and either accuse me of flaming, think I’m a jerk, or just won’t listen.
I understand there were some problems with the rep system though so I guess we just have to choose the lesser of two evils whichever those be.
Now there was a coincidence: I hadn’t seen the Habbywall bible thread before the post, really!
Anyway I don’t have a bible, it went in the rubbish bin when I was about 7. Mummy was not pleased, and still isn’t.
"In the beginning there was no God, and it’s debateable whether there was a beginning anyway…and there is probably little point being optimistic and saying “the end”.
one thing I will say is that these fora have gone down in, like, enjoyabilityment. or whatever you want to call it. no one in particular is to blame, but I believe it has something to do with the average age of the forum users getting lower and lower over the years…just my not so humble opinion.
I totaly agree, and I know it’s not the age itself that is the determining factor in whether or not a post is good but I find that yes many of the younger, newer posters seem to be less than helpful.
