Are humans really this feeble?

Oww oww oww oww OWW OWW!!!

Today was the first time I’ve been to my local trails for ages, and it’s substantially more overgrown than it was last time. Lots and lots of nettles. My legs BURN!

Nettles apparently work by having lots of little spines that can penetrate the skin and leak formic acid all over the place, which stings a bit.

How?! Talk about thin-skinned! If some stupid teeny little hairs on a flippin’ plant can get through, I’m surprised my legs don’t fall completely to bits in the course of a normal day! All that erosion caused by dust particles in the air, and I even slightly nudged the car door with my leg this morning - a close shave indeed, I could have lost my leg! Aaargh!

I think I’ve lost all respect for my legs now. Wimps.

Nettle plant’s “hairs” are slightly harder than dust. because they’re so hard and so small it takes very little to puncture something with them.

At least that’s what my Boy Scout manual says.

You feeble-legged, ex-studenty type… leave those nettles alone! Go around them!
