Anyone lightened a GB4 stiffener plate?

Hi,

Has anyone had any success with lightening the GB4 stiffener plate. I have had one sitting in a drawer for over a year and I can finally put it on my newly acquired TUni, but I just weighed that sucker and it’s a whopping 9 oz.

I am considering drilling out a lot of it and leaving a solid “stretch” down the middle that is about 1" wide.

Anyone done something similar?

I lightened mine when I uninstalled it, tossed it in the trash, and replaced it with a CF base. Trying to lighten that thing seems like an Exercise in Futility to me.
