Anyone know how to center this pic?

I’ve been posting my Piano Tuning services on craigslist, and I’d like to be able to “center” the pic in my ad, but can’t figure out how to do it. If anyone can tell me the method, I’d really appreciate it!:smiley:

Terry-

It looks as if you have centering turned on for the text. I didn’t see a photo in the ad. Maybe you were editing it at the time.

i could see the photo but i dont know how to center it sorry, the add looks good though.

if all else fails you could just hold down the space bar till its in the middle.

Too bad it doesn’t work that way; when I go into the edit mode, I only see text. The pics can only be added separately, but I can’t find any option to change their position. I know it can be done since there are other ads with pics in the middle.

Just a thought… your email address that you have listed there doesn’t give off a very “professional” vibe.

You mean “pianolover88?” Haha never heard that before. I’ve been using that email for 10 years and it’s never hindered my abilty to get plenty of work. My “tag line” is: “Stay Tuned”. :smiley:

I think pianolover88 is a fine name for a piano tuning service.

Thanks. I think he may have been referring to the “anonymous” email address the craigslist uses.

Try changing this:
<table summary=“craigslist hosted images”>
<tr><td align=“center”><img
src=“http://images.craigslist.org/01020201030701161220080127153b0c9c9194a61a450048a5.jpg”></td>
</tr>
<tr><td align=“center”></td>
<td align=“center”></td></tr>
</table>

To this:
<table align=center summary=“craigslist hosted images”>
<tr><td><img
src=“http://images.craigslist.org/01020201030701161220080127153b0c9c9194a61a450048a5.jpg”></td>
</tr>
</table>

Don’t think there is a way.

I had a listing on Craigslist and they add the images seperately, so it’s in a fixed locaiton.

just had a brainwave, make a new version of the image with a large blank portion tacked on to the left of it, the overall thing will stil be left justified but it will push the piano image to the centre. Might have to play with the size a bit to get it smack in the middle.

But if somebody used a different screen resolution or re-sized their browser window wouldn’t it make it off center again?

Interesting idea tho.

Play all you want. Then resize your browser window. D’oh! The centering is relative to the window, so there’s no right answer. Welcome to the world of Web design!

Unfortunately I don’t know the answer to your question. Instead I’ll ask why you want all that text centered? Large blocks of text don’t read well centered, so unless Craigslist is forcing it to be that way, I recommend left-aligning it. Then, if you want to control how it looks, put your own line breaks in where you want, to keep the text from running all the way across a super-wide browser window.

It’s possible people are centering their images by typing in links to them and having the images hosted somewhere else. For example typing in the following (not a real image):

<img src=“http://www.unicyclist.com/gallery/yourgallery/pic.jpg”>

This should work too.

Terry I have a technical question for you: my family’s piano has been out of tune for eons … but, but, it’s a wooden frame that won’t probably withstand yet another tension … any practical advice? -the shame is that I had to offer a digital piano to my wife last year :o because the old thing is out (what can I do?: t’was built for my great grand mother at the end of 19th century; it is a modest “standing” piano … but a family thing)

Sounds like the piano I used to have!! circa 1910!
When my piano tuner saw it and stopped laughing, …!
Made a lovely, but high, coffee table!

In our business we would call that a “PSO”…Piano shaped object, lol! If you want an acoustic piano for any kind of serious music making, find something much more modern from the 1950’s on up.

Also, look for an upright at least 40" to 48" tall. (in our business we refer to all vertical pianos as “uprights”.) Avoid “spinets” (generally 39" and under) as they have the least potential for good tone and are of the lowest quality in all repsects. Have a qualified tech inspect before you buy, just as you would have a mechanic inspect a used car before purchase.

You should be able to find a decent console (40"-44") with no repair issues, in decent shape for under $850.

Borg nailed it. Craigslist controls your images, including how they’re formatted. You can’t add any HTML to your post that will affect the images.

Then how does this guy do it? (I’m still waiting to hear from him; I emailed him to ask lol!)
