I discussed these matters with the JUA a few times and we think that it is not
possible thjat there are 15 million active riders. The oly possibilit is that
this is a cumulative number over the last 15 or 20 years.

Mr. Sugano of the JUA once said that there are probably one million active unicyclists
but I think this is all speculation. It would seem to me that the JUA should allocate a
budget and do a serious survey. Yuuichiro, why don’t you suggest it?

Mr. Masuda of JUA, I recommend that you plan such as survey and present it at
the next JUA Board Meeting.

Before doing suchg a survey, I wonder if someone can suggest criteria. Do you
only count “active unicyclists”? What is “active”? Should we also count “closet
unicyclists”? How do you define “closet”?

If there are 15M because they learned in elementary school, that’s certainly
not the same as 15M active, agreed.

I’d suggest that who you count depends on your purpose for the survey. If
it’s to encourage unicycling, counting closet unicyclists is very important.

What does active mean for you. In Switzerland it means joining a club or/and doing
competitions. Does it mean the same in Japan?

I don’t think joining a club or doing competitions should be a requirement.
Just actively riding for the fun of it should be enough.
