Anybody seen "Wall-E"?

Just about every review from critics and regular movie going folk alike are loving this movie. It’s probably the single highest rated, most popular movie out in a while. Anybody seen it? If so, give us your review…minus any spoilers please.:o

i saw it. I thought it was AWESOME!

but it did get a little slow towards the middle.

i still liked it. worth the 9$

Saw it, twice.

A lot of the newer animated movies are a little, eh, cheesy… but Wall-e has the nice feature of not trying to promote any family values (at least I didn’t pick up on any). It’s a very entertaining story with amazing animation.

Also, keep your eyes out, there’s a unicycle in the background of one of the scenes… Did anyone else spot it?

If I could play Ebert and Siskel, I’d give it one thumb up, and one thumb down. Visually it is quite a stunning movie, lots of digitally-rendered eye candy. The plot is interesting… mildly. It’s got some political messages in it, and a few stabs at the human condition, but it’s all old hat by now.

My beef is the script… the dialog is sparse for quite a stretch… as in there is none. The movie is obviously designed to draw some tears out of you at some point, laughs at others, but it seems targeted more at kids than adults. I just couldn’t “get into it”. Some of my friends did. YMMV

If you really like Pixar movies, or have a group of friends that wanna see it, then go. But if you only watch one movie every once in a while, I’d say choose again. There are hundreds of classics out there I’m sure you’ve yet to see, and you’d be better entertained.

Wall-E just seemed like “fluff” to me… where as Kevin Reynolds 2002 version of “The Count of Monte Cristo” was absolutely stunning. I just saw that last weekend and immediately wanted to watch it again… too bad it was 2 AM :stuck_out_tongue:

Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks “WALL-E” bares a very strong resemblance to “Johnny 5” from the 1986 movie, “Short Circuit”. I loved that movie, and instead of animation, that robot was built from scratch and was actually functional. :sunglasses:

Go see it… it’s touching…

It’s great. It has some action and it truely is touching…

I think it was a great movie… Well worth my 6$ matinee

I saw a trailer for Wall-E the other day and thought it was a Short Ciruit remake/sequel.

Um, that was the creepy guy sitting next to you in the trenchcoat, not the movie.

I thought it had too much dialogue. They lull you into this nice sense of pure visual story telling, then they over explain everything with talking in the second half.

I liked it and was very entertained, but I did not find it the life changing experience that some people seemed to have had.

It does feel like two movies with a different feel to each one. Here is most of the dialog until the last third:

Eve-a, Wall-e… Eve-a, Wall-e… Eve-a, Wall-e…

Bottom line: I was never bored in spite of the lack of dialog, it is a visual feast and a cute story. But the story line is thin compared to movies like the Incredibles, Monsters Inc (my favorite) and Nemo. If I had to rank them, Wall-E would be behind these three.

Do not disassemble!

I watched it with Isaiah (AKA Zipper/PU&IFLUNICYCLES) and he spotted it.

It was a good movie. I liked the sort of “message” it sent.

Where?
