any squash players out there?

just wondering if there are any squash players out there. for those of you who don’t know what squash is, most people just refer to it as racquetball with a ball that doesn’t bounce nearly as much. Look it up on google videos if you’re interested. It’s a very cool sport.

I have been known to play the odd game of squash. I used to think i was pretty good at it too, until i versed a friend who plays in heaps of competitions, and i only scored 2 points against him.

ya yesterday I was in a tournament and I was playing the top seat on my first match and got knocked into consolation in less than 20 minutes. I then Lost my consolation match and was booted straight out of the tournament. Not a bad way to start the day!

Yeah I play a bit at uni, I’m lucky in that there are tons of free courts around here. Do you play that only the server can score a point, or that either player can score a point on a rally? (which is known as american scoring around here)

I play international most of the time meaning that you can only score when you serve. American is just a pain in the butt in my opinion.

Whoa that’s pretty cool my friend. Do you also play tournaments/competitions or is it mostly just for fun.

ya I play in tournaments too and I’m on a school team.

WOW congratulations my friend, If you’ve won any trophies or medals. I hope you win some more.

I’m lucky, in that the squash courts are a 45second walk from my lecture theature at university. There are showers in the change rooms. we can dash off for a quick game at lunch or whenever we have a free hour. And membership is only R30 for the year, including lights - that works out to about $5 American :sunglasses:

I play squash with my friend at his dad’s firehouse It is a ton better than racquetball.
(We play you can only get points if it’s your serve)

I did not know anyone played squash anymore. At least in the USA. I figured racquetball had replaced it.

I play racquetball weekly. You only score points when you serve.

Squash is fairly popular in South Africa. I don’t know of anybody who plays racquetball though. Actually, I don’t know of any racquetball courts in South Africa. Is it played on the same court with the same markings?

I have only seen a squash court one time and that was years ago.

I went to Wikipedia and looked up squash to get an idea of what the court looks like. It is not like racquetball. A racquetball court is slightly larger and the markings are different. There are articles about racquetball and squash in Wikipedia.

In my part of the USA, racquetball is more popular than squash. I don’t think I have ever heard of any squash courts in Memphis, Tennessee.
