Any Musicians Here?

Yeah I love music.

Tenor Sax
Alto Sax
Harmonica
I also have a bunch of weird flute like instruments

There’s already been a thread like this one but I’ll anser anyway, yes I’m a drummer. I love music, particularly funk, jazz, and jazz funk.

I’ve also done about 10 years of piano but I’m not very good at it.

Andrew

Yeah, I majored in music in college. Played classical trumpet but my real deal was jazz. Sorta gave it up for a few years and last summer picked up a mandolin and started playing bluegrass.

Never heard a jazz funk song before, what’s a good one?

Pretty much anything I listen to!

Saddly, yes…I take piano lessons but would much rather learn the bagpipes…no kidding. They’re awesome…

Oh, and i also play the kazoo and the nose-flute…:stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t see the post that started the thread.

I play percussion and stringbase (and sing) in Mista. We play folk music from around the world, mainly Eastern Europe. We now have mp3’s on the Audio page.

Klaas Bil

Thanks for the link Klaas, I enjoyed listening to your .mp3’s a lot. Some of them reminded me (in a way) of a really great gypsie-style Australian band I saw once called Doch.

Spyder,
Good to hear! Any suggestions of bands/songs to listen to?

Sofa,
Check out http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll . That’s a fantastic site. Although not all the jazz-funk I listen to isn’t strictly jazz-funk and probably has more a the funk side of things in it, I am a fan of Herbie Hancock and Stanley Clarke. I’m not sure if eveyone would agree with me but I consider a lot of the Charlie Hunter Trio (and Quartet, Quintet, etc) songs to be jazz-funk songs. Charlie Hunter (with his various groups - the trio, quartet, quintet) is probably one of my favourite artists.

Is anybody here a Maceo Parker fan?

Andrew

oh boy! there’s a song in there somewhere…

Any other Harmonicas here???

Maybe…I’ll see if I can find mine and learn to play…

i play violin and trombone and do music theory.

I play banjo and a concertina I found backstage at my school’s theatre. if anybody could help me out with what kind that’d be awesome. It has 20 keys and I can play Count Funkula by P-Funk on it, along with If I Should Fall From grace With God by the Pogues (I can also play those on banjo).

I started teaching mysefl dueling banjos today. I wrote a minute and 17 seconds worth of music down. I’m almost good.

threw a rock at a cowbell once that made a cool noise. (is that counted a an instrument?)

My dad owns a accordian and played it when he was a kid.

Thoudands are sailing and fiesta are my favorites by the pogues. I like all of their songs as long as it has Shane McGouen.

Anyone here heard the new Beastie Boys album? Track numbah 2 is awesome.

I Play Guitars. Both 6 string and 12 string. Acoustic, Electric and Classical Guitars. Only recently I sold my 12 string Acoustic Guitar and now I wish I hadn’t done that now. Anyway. I’ll get another one one day.

David

Umm, I can play a few instruments, but all but one of them I can’t really play that well.

Bassoon - been playing for 13 years.
Piano - been playing for about 15 years, but no more lessons, just play for fun
Guitar - taught myself, and play only for my own enjoyment.
Bagpipes - was going to teach myself, by my 1st uni arrive, so, …

and I compose orchestral music. If I can, I will see if I can put it up in a gallery (haven’t set one up yet), for a little review by other people.

All of these are only hobbies.

Al.

Yeah Al I taught myself to play guitar. Then later on I got myself a Guitar teacher. Which I had to learn notes and some guitar riffs.
The first thing I had to play a guitar riff was Roy Orbison’s “Oh Pretty Woman” tune. I can’t do “Ooby Dooby” which I wanted to do. Great to see an Australian registry this site and good luck pal.

David

yeah, I love that song.

But an accordion is very different from concertina.
