any good movie download sites out there?

I don’t mind paying a reasonable amount for downloading movies (onto my new 160 GB external hard drive  ) but I’m not sure which sites offer a good selection at an acceptable price. Any suggestions?

wait, you mean, you’re supposed to pay for things you download?
news ta me…

The big media companies are struggling with the inevitable. Eventually we’ll all get our movies by downloading them for free (though, you may still have to pay for internet service, but even that might not be). It’ll all be ad supported in some mannor (product placements in movies or whatever). If a big media company actually figures this out, then they could totally rule. Disney seems the closest to this realization so far…

Surely disney doesnt have product placement.

has soon as apple buys out disney check out the itunes music store,
there was this one website that had all movies, from the moment they hit theaters on there site for download, dont remember it now, but it seemed okay, it was 24.95 a month, and then theres always netflix, you could just copy the movies, if you wanta be sorta like potter and sorta leagal

i lookedon bearshare a while ago, and ipod video videos are free there

maaan, Bearshare is so out…its all about Limewire, or Ares now.

hehe, have you ever seen Wayne’s World, that part where they’re all like, “I would never submit to such lowly tactics as getting sponsored for money,” and then he holds up a Pizza Hut box and smiles at the camera, and then Garth is all, “I know man, we should choose to not support the corporate monsters,” and Wayne takes a drink of a Pepsi and says, “we are, and its the choice of a new generation.” and he smiles.
hahhaha, its a great movie.

There’s a movie theater nearby that has all movies for $1.50, and only a $1.00 on Tuesdays! And… during the week you can just sit there and watch it again if you want.

So no movie subscriptions for me.

why Tuesdays?

Hmm, I never asked. Dunno! :o

So I have experimented with a few bittorrent options and some popular suggestions like limewire. I duno, the bittorrents don’t even seem to want to even begin to load and the subscription rates of some of the other sites seem a bit suspicious.

I’m still looking for an efficient, reliable way to download movies. anyone else have any new ideas?

You mean you don’t have “Dollar Tuesday” over there? Here most of the video stores (rental) do that on tuesdays…everything for $1.

Andrew

Tuesday is cheap day at the cheap theatre here. But it’s $2, not $1. It used to be $1, I was disappointed when it went up.

The best easiest option is Netflix. It’s $17.99 a month and if you send them all back the next day (by saving them) if you’re withint 1 days mail of your distro center you can get as many as 6 per week. No need to worry about tracked downloads, and you never end up with crappy shot on a camcorder version.

If Steve Jobs takes full contol of Disney, he won’t allow free download of films but he will probably make them readily available for a reasonable price. Cheap legal downloads have taken a chunk out of illegal downloads and are seeming to sustain the industry right now.

I use Azureus, a Bittorrent client, and get my torrents from mininova.

thanks. I’m trying mininova right now.

Make sure you’ve followed the directions to open a port in whatever firewall(s) you have, otherwise the sharing won’t work and the download will be dreadfully slow. Also, when you start a bittorrent, because of the way it works, you generally have to wait a while for the speed to pick up. And even then, it won’t be nearly as fast as a direct download.

'K thanks, that’s helpful info.
