Any climbers?

When i go to college I hope to do leisure rec management but a part of the course is climbing I have done a little indoor and outdoor. One of those times I used climbing shoes they make such a difference I would like to get some for college but what ones are good but not to pricey?whats the min you would have to pay?
(uk prices would really help/any sites to get them from or shops)

Sorry, I only know US Dollars, but:

expect anywhere from $80 - $140 USD for shoes. Its money well spent though. Id reccomend trying them on in stores, and downsizing. No socks, of course.

If you want to shop online http://www.sportextreme.com good here in the states and maybe even better I think if your in europe. Discglaimer, I have never purchased anything from them, I use http://www.gearexpress.com, but I dont know if thats going to be as good over seas.

I have La Sportiva Cliffs. they are great intro shoes. All around good for all types of cimbing, good fit, lace ups. I also have some boreal aces, which I like, but not as much as the cliffs. Try on diffrent shoes though, people are going to give you all kinds of reccomendations, ultimatly, its up to you.

I got some new climbing shoes when I was in Austria… I was in a town called Schladming for 6 weeks. The town may be familiar to those who really enjoy skiing. World cup downhill skiing was held there I think about 10-12 years ago. Anyways, there’s a store in a nearby town (10 minute drive) that has really good stuff for incredible prices. So if you feel like making a trip to austria, I got mine for about $80 canadian (800 austrian schillings). I think that’s about 30-35 pounds. For the quality of shoes I got, I would normally expect to pay closer to $150 canadian. I think that kind of stuff is a little bit more expensive in the uk though (at least from what I can remember).

Just in case of any freakish reason that you do go to austria (good climbing there, by the way), the store is in Ramsau, and is called Ski Willy.

A little bit to add to my last post…

For what kind of shoes to get, you may be able to get Mammut shoes there. We can’t in canada, we can get Mammut everything else but not the climbing shoes. They may be available there though. They have a full range of shoes. FiveTen is another good one to look at, lots of their shoes are good for any level of climbing. I like to do that kind of shopping at Mountain Equipment Co-op. I’m not sure what kind of shipping you’d be looking at if you ordered from them, but their prices are very reasonable.

When I am looking at climbing shoes, I start with shoes that are 2 full sizes smaller than my regular shoes. Usually you can get your foot into that, but if not, try moving up one step at a time until you find a size that you can just squeeze your foot into. Don’t forget that they will stretch with use, so the smaller you can get them, the easier they are to climb with after good solid use.

Hope at least a little bit of this is helpful.

Re: Any climbers?

u have to try a bunch of shoes
if u can get to a good retailer where u can try a variety of shoes, that would be first prize

being too lazy to lace up climbing shoes, i’m a firm fan of la sportiva’s cobra

No matter which shoe you get try to buy from www.moosejaw.com their prices are realy low. If you do buy from them use flounder as a code to get extra money off. You have to go to stores first though.

thanks for the useless sites I know you are tring to help but all the sites r usa sites not uk sites and that is what i need.this may sound ungrateful but i am thankful you took your time to look and put links in.
